C-Backup
uses several sophisticated techniques to reduce the network
load when a PC is sending data to the specified location.
It
retains only a single copy of identical files, even if those
files come from two different machines. Since up to 80% of the
files on any two PCs are identical (operating system and
application files are obvious examples), C-Backup’s
contribution to network traffic can be dramatically reduced.
It also
examines the changes made to files as
they occur, and
sends only blocks of data that have actually changed.
Typically, the majority of data in a file does not change from
version to version, so sending only the blocks of changes
reduces traffic.
